Gate counts
Surf contests, street fairs, races, airshow weekend — sized to the crowd, placed to the permit, serviced through the run.
The short version
Huntington Beach runs one of the busiest event calendars on the coast — the Lexus US Open of Surfing, the Pacific Airshow, the Fourth of July parade, Surf City Nights every Tuesday, the Surf City Marathon. We have placed units for the shape of all of them.

The ratio moves with the kind of event, over a four-hour window: one restroom per hundred and ten at a party, one per ninety-five at a wedding, one per eighty-five at a festival where people stay all day. Alcohol adds roughly a quarter. Then one accessible unit for every eight standard ones, minimum one on anything open to the public, and one hand-wash station per three restrooms — more if you have food vendors, because the health department counts them by vendor row.
Split the count across the footprint rather than putting everything in one place. Two banks of six beat one bank of twelve every time.
Which body you deal with depends on which sand you are standing on. The City of Huntington Beach handles Main Street, Pier Plaza and the city beach, with applications due ninety days ahead. California State Parks handles Bolsa Chica and Huntington State Beach out of the Orange Coast District office. Anything touching Pacific Coast Highway adds a Caltrans encroachment permit on top.
All of them care about the same things: units on a firm surface, a continuous accessible route from the accessible parking stalls, nothing blocking a fire lane or a sidewalk, and a service plan. Personal vehicles are not allowed on the beach multi-use trail, so servicing works from the lot pavement and the placement has to allow for that.
Multi-day events get serviced overnight or between sessions, and the route has to be planned before the fencing goes up. On closed-street events on Main Street that generally means pre-dawn, because the closure is up all day. Tell us the schedule when you book and we will build the service windows into it rather than improvising on the Saturday.
