What are these ratios based on?
The job-site figure is the OSHA sanitation table: one unit per ten workers on a forty-hour week. The event figures are the working industry ratios over a four-hour window — one per hundred and ten at a party, one per ninety-five at a wedding, one per eighty-five at a festival — stretched by duration up to one and a half times, with a quarter added when there is a bar.
When the number is not whole, do I go up or down?
Up, always. A second unit costs a fraction of what a line costs you, and on a permitted event the reviewer is checking a minimum rather than an average.
Does the calculator account for accessible units?
Yes — one per eight standard units, with at least one on any event open to the public. Tick the public box and it holds that floor.
What about hand-wash stations?
One per three restrooms. If you have food vendors, the health department will want provision per vendor row instead, so call and we will work it properly.
Is a two-shift job site double the units?
No — same unit count, double the servicing. The stalls are getting twice the traffic between visits, not twice the simultaneous demand.
Can I just tell you the headcount instead?
Please do. Two minutes on the phone gets you a number and a price at the same time.
